Songvision Results Calculator

This is a tool to calculate the results of Eurovision style contests that we sometimes play in the last.fm Discord server. The scoring goes from 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and each participant can vote on submissions except their own. This tool should be used in conjunction with a generated TSV file of scores collated from Google Forms/Sheets. Here are the steps below:

Step 1:

Create a Google form with the fields (Username, 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5 ,4, 3, 2 ,1)

To minimise errors, consider providing pre-written answers for the user to choose. If you got lots of artists, best way is to write them all once in a single menu and then duplicate the entire thing for 10 points, 8, 7, 6... so you won't have to write them all again.

Step 2:

After collecting the votes, go to the responses tab and click 'View in Sheets' to create the spreadsheet:

And over to Google Sheets we can create the TSV file from here:

Step 4:

With the TSV file, you can upload it to the Songvision tool to calculate the total scores and copy/paste from the text boxes into your editor: (08/02/23- Alternatively you can use the save button now)

Optionally you can choose any value to display the midway leaderboards or swap responses for more dramatic ordering and results show.

Also there's a limitation that this tool won't keep record of artists with 0 points simply because they're not in the spreadsheet if no one gave points. :(

This is where the bottom text input comes in where you can manually type in the Artist - Song and then add into the leaderboard at the end.
